Silent Night

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!

Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

This song represents the spiritual joyof knowing that Jesus came to earth just for us! For it is the the real meaning for celebrating Christmas! If we could capture  a silent time to allow this type of joy to grip us this season as the song writer Priest Joseph Mohr intended, I believe we could hold on to the peace of our personal relationship with Him.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).

Why is it so hard for some of us to maintain a personal relationship with God? Enlighten me.

I wish I had all the right answers, but the truth is that I struggle with my own relationship with God. It’s not bad, but it isn’t great either. I believe that we rely on flesh and ourselves too much, which takes our focus off of God and the real meaning of why Jesus came in the first place. We no longer try to trust God or rely on Him because God doesn’t move when we want Him to. He doesn’t appease our flesh, but seeks after the heart. We want to deal with Him only when it’s convenient for us or when we’re going through something. We never truly take the time to know Him for ourselves, which makes us lose out of the true blessings of life not knowing Him. We want tangible things, things we can see and touch, and not the unseen things, which are the things that really matter, like peace and love, faith, and hope. That’s what Christmas used to mean. Now everything in this life is all about self and what I can get out of it, and since God is not like that, we don’t want a relationship with Him foreal. We look for love and can’t find it cause “God is love”. We look for finances and can’t find it cause God said “Silver and Gold is mine”. Everything goes back to God, and until He becomes our Everything, our relationship with Him will never be right or true. Help us Lord to get it right and to know You for Who You Are!!!
